A Kirkland man pleaded guilty on Aug. 5 to assault in the second degree after being arrested for having sex with a 15-year-old prostitute last winter at his Kirkland condo.
Jordan Church Lind, 49, initially pleaded not guilty on April 3 to rape of a child and commercial sex abuse of a minor.
“… Between the dates of Jan. 15 and Feb. 28, with the intent to commit the felony of commercial sexual abuse of a minor, I did intentionally assault [the victim] when I had unwanted physical contact with her,” Lind said in his plea statement. “I acknowledge I was arrested for commercial sexual abuse of a minor.”
A King County prosecuting attorney recommended Lind receive six months of jail time and a $1,700 fine for second-degree assault. Lind is also required to pay $500 to the victim, a $100 DNA test fee and have no contact with the girl for 10 years. Lind, who never graduated high school, must attend “John school,” an educational intervention aimed at clients of prostitutes, and also complete a sexual deviancy treatment program. He must not visit any websites or chat rooms “where escort or prostitution services are advertised or provided” and he cannot have any unsupervised contact with minors except under the permission of his treatment provider.
On March 19, Seattle police arrested Lind, who previously lived in Mercer Island, at his home located at the 300 block of Sixth Ave. in the Norkirk neighborhood. Through a search warrant, police discovered Lind was with a 20-year-old woman who has a history of prostitution arrests with ads on Backpage.com.
“He stated that all he does is pick up prostitutes and has consensual sex,” probable cause documents state. “He stated that every girl he sees is an adult and always checks their ID cards to confirm their age. He then stated that his life is over, that he has terrible luck.”
But Lind clearly wasn’t thorough enough in checking prostitute’s ages because about 10 days before he was arrested, a 15-year-old girl in the Denny Juvenile Detention Center in Everett came forward.
Deemed “Ruby Red” by her female pimp, the girl told police she had ads on Backpage.com and had been prostituting from January to February, mostly in the Seatac area.
However, there was one place in Kirkland she had been several times.
“The victim stated that she had performed sex acts on suspect Jordan probably four of the five times she met him and the suspect paid her money ranging from $100-$200 each visit,” court documents state.
The girl told police she told Lind the first time they met that she was 15-years-old but that he told her, “That’s OK, I like them young.” Lind is 33 years older than the girl.
Lind has several prior felony convictions, including unlawful imprisonment, attempting to elude a police vehicle and possession of stolen property.
