Dear Editor,
I have enjoyed the Kirkland Reporter’s strong support of public schools for the past several years. This support is demonstrated every week by your inclusion of many articles highlighting positive events that occur in our schools every day.
A recent column entitled “Pre-school picking angst: Where to put my pro-athletes-to-be?” went against this established grain. I’m certain Mr. Greenberg meant no harm, but he certainly managed to disparage teachers with his style of humor. As a principal in the Lake Washington School District, I have the privilege of working with well educated, passionate and caring teachers every day who chose careers in education — they did not settle for them. I know when Mr. Greenberg’s sons enter into school he will experience first hand these consummate professionals and grow to appreciate their skills.
When Mr. Greenberg makes us laugh without belittling others, then his work is worthy of the Kirkland Reporter.
