City seeks applicants for Civil Service Commission

The City of Kirkland seeks applicants for a vacated position on its Civil Service Commission. The Civil Service Commission makes rules to implement the civil service system, authorizes the conduct and grading of civil service tests, investigates complaints about the enforcement of the civil service system, conducts hearings regarding discipline of civil service employees, and assures that employees are selected or promoted from lists maintained by the Commission. To be eligible, applicants must be at least 18 year of age, be registered voters, and reside in the City of Kirkland for the past three years.

The person selected will complete a vacated position that expires Dec. 31, 2011. Completed applications must be received by the City Clerk prior to 4 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 2. The Commission consists of three members, appointed by the City Manager to terms of six years. The regularly scheduled meeting is the second Tuesday of the month at 4 p.m. at Kirkland City Hall.
