The Lake Washington football team earned it’s first win of the season against Garfield last Thursday, beating the Bulldogs 34-2.
The game was scoreless through the first quarter, but in the second the Kangs began to find their stride. Senior Alex Donnelly made a 21-yard run for the team’s first touchdown of the season. Quarterback Spencer Jackson followed not long after with a 30-yard touchdown pass to Phil Luong for another six points. The kick from Adam Krebs was good to end the half with a 13-0 lead.
Lake Washington kept their momentum in the third quarter, quickly getting another touchdown off an 85-yard run from Max Simpkins. Erik McKenny scored a 2-yard running touchdown before Lake Washington’s Anthony Frakes scored the team’s final touch down of the night off a 15-yard pass from Jackson.
Garfield scored it’s only points on a John Trupin safety, the Kangs blocked the punt in the third quarter. The game ended with a scoreless fourth quarter.
Next Friday, Sept. 10 Lake Washington will host it’s first home game of the season when Redmond comes to town.
