Lake Washington football falls to Bellevue, heads to Sammamish this week
The Lake Washington football team suffered their third loss of the season last Friday, going down 56-14 to the 3A state champions Bellevue.
The Kangs couldn’t hold back Bellevue during the first half, as the Wolverines scored 43 unanswered points in the first 24 minutes.
Lake Washington found a way to slow down Bellevue’s offense in the second, with their opponent earning just one touchdown in the third quarter, followed by a second in the fourth.
The Kangs put their first numbers on the board when Max Simpkins made a 4-yard touchdown run, capped off by a solid kick from Adam Krebs. Moments later Bellevue scored an 80-yard touchdown for the Wolverines final run of the night. But with the ball in their possession Lake Washington found their way back to the end zone thanks to a 25-yard Shawn Grey pass to Phil Luong and another solid kick for the final score.
Tonight the Kangs travel to Sammamish for a KingCo conference game. The Totems are coming off a 58-0 loss to Juanita last Friday. The game begins at 7 p.m.
Juanita swimmers takes down Interlake
The Rebels girls swimming team beat Interlake last week, 106-74.
Juanita won nine of the events overall to earn the conference win.
The 200 medley relay was won by Interlake in 1:59.58 time, while Rachel Kurtz earned the Rebels first win in the 200 freestyle race wit ha time of 2:02.27. Kurtz also won the 100 butterfly race in 1:04.69 and was apart of the winning 200 freestyle relay and the 400 freestyle relay.
Juanita’s Hanna Armstrong won the 200 individual medley race in 2:22.16, while Celia Pinczower took the top spot in the diving competition with a score of 288. Armstrong took another first place in the 100 freestyle race at 56.12, while teammate Anna Michel won the 500 freestyle in 5:47.49. Juanita’s 200 freestyle relay, consisting of Lindsay Stevens, Megan Girchel, Michel and Kurtz won in 1:48.23. The 400 freestyle relay team also won (Armstrong, Tess Farley, Michel and Kurtz) in 3:55.21. Farley won the 100 backstroke in 1:06.03.
