The blotter feature is both a description of a small selection of police incidents and a statistical round-up of all calls to the Kirkland Police Department that are dispatched to on-duty police officers. The Kirkland Reporter Police Blotter is not intended to be representative of all police calls originating in Kirkland, which average about 800 per week.
Between March 24-30, the Kirkland Police Department reported 281 traffic violations (seven DUIs), 22 alarm calls, 17 car accidents, 11 noise complaints, eight thefts, 17 car prowls, seven domestic violence calls, seven acts of fraud, six calls for animal control, seven domestic violence incidents, 16 calls of a disturbance and six calls of harassment. At least 35 people were arrested.
March 30
Domestic: 8:59 a.m., 2000 Market Street. An intoxicated juvenile female, 16, was released into her mother’s custody after being arrested.
Disturbance: 5 a.m., 400 block of Fourth Ave. South. A disturbance between roommates, involving some friends, resulted in several of the guests being asked to leave the premises. The altercation created a disturbance in the courtyard of the apartment complex. Two females, ages 16 and 18 were contacted and arrested for minors in consumption of alcohol.
Domestic: A 25-year-old Bellevue woman was beaten by her 22-year-old female friend from Kirkland. The Kirkland woman was arrested for assault.
Illegal substance: 9:51 p.m., 11700 N.E. 128th Street. A 20-year-old Seattle man was contacted by police and found to have a domestic violence warrant out of Kent and multiple illegal substances in his coat pocket.
March 29
Domestic: 8:26 p.m., 200 block of Kirkland Ave. A 29-year-old woman came into the Kirkland Police Department to report that she had been assaulted by her husband during an argument earlier that day. The woman did not want anything documented but wanted police to talk with her husband. She stated that her husband had restrained her by grabbing her hard on the upper arms. When she struggled and hit him to get him to let go, he slapped her hard on the side of the head. When the man was contacted he admitted to restraining and slapping his wife and was arrested despite his wife’s protests.
March 28
Harassment: 1 a.m., 100 block of 14th Ave. A Kirkland man was unhappy with construction across the street from where he lives with his mother. During the early morning hours the man set up a high intensity projector on his front porch, pointed it across the street and turned it on. The victim advised the suspect that he will obtain an anti-harassment order against him.
Illegal substance: 2:40 p.m., 300 Central Way. A 13-year-old female was contacted after being seen at Parkplace Center with marijuana by security. The girl was in possession of 5.96 grams of marijuana. The girl was arrested and later dropped off at her residence.
Order violation: 8:51 p.m., 12000 block of 115th Ave. N.E. A 30-year-old woman reported that her husband contacted her and her son at their church despite having a valid temporary protection order. The man was contacted by police and arrested.
March 27
Illegal substance: 3:15 p.m., 12520 120th Ave. N.E. Three men were arrested after Totem Lake Mall security reported illegal substance activity outside the Big 5. One subject was arrested for possession of marijuana, another for obstruction, drug paraphernalia and outstanding warrants. Heroin was found with the intent to sell, along with prescription drugs.
Order violation: 10:02 p.m., 944 Sixth Street S. A 21-year-old Kirkland female was arrested for violation of a protection order at a local 7-11.
March 26
Theft: 2:30 p.m., 12600 block of Totem Lake Boulevard N.E. The victim reported that her Apple iPhone was taken while she was shopping at Famous Footwear.
Domestic: 8 a.m., 12900 block of N.E. 122nd Lane. A 16-year-old boy was arrested after assaulting his aunt, whom he has lived with for 10 years.
March 25
Disorderly conduct: 12 noon, 12033 N.E. 80th Street. Three males were arrested at Lake Washington High School for fighting.
March 24
Domestic: 12:51 p.m., 8200 125th Place N.E. A domestic assault occurred when a husband hit his wife with an office chair causing cuts to her right hand and minor bleeding. The husband was contacted at the residence and arrested after he was found to be the primary aggressor.
