LWSD creating system of haves and have-nots

My husband and I have been dealing with another issue that is indicative of the LWSD turning it’s back on this side of the district. We have been going up the “chain of command” to discuss the overcrowding issue at Thoreau Elementary on Finn Hill. My son currently has 29 students in his 5th/6th grade split classes. However, the real travesty is the number of 6th graders in his pull-out math class. There are currently 43 kids in one class of 6th grade math. We have shared our extreme dissatisfaction with teachers (we support them and know that they can do nothing). We have shared our extreme dissatisfaction with the principal in a very heated meeting with her recently. Her mantra is “her hands are tied and she can do nothing about it.” We are getting nowhere very slowly.

The district truly is creating a system of haves and have-nots. My son will never have the opportunity to go to this super special STEM high school, because the district has failed him in elementary school. He will not have what he needs to compete in today’s world. Dr. Kimball speaks about having kids “future ready.” My son won’t even be ready for 7th grade math.
