Earning their second win of the season, Lake Washington put up solid numbers during the 39-17 win over Redmond last Friday.

The Kangs, which won their first game after Garfield forfeited, has a 2-0 start to the season.

Against Redmond, the Kangs struck first with run from the line of scrimmage by quarterback Shawn Gray for an 85-yard touchdown, followed by a failed kick by Hugh McGlynn. The Kangs led 6-0 at the end of the first quarter.

Remdond followed their scoreless first quarter with 17 unanswered points, giving the Mustangs a 17-6 lead going into the half time.

During the second quarter Chris Schumacher had a 32-yard field goal, followed by a 9-yard Brady Anderson pass to Nikolah LaCour to take the lead. The duo connected again later in the quarter, this time on a 31-yard pass to push the Mustangs farther ahead.

But after the break, Lake Washington broke away and never looked back. In the third quarter the Kangs scored 21 points, followed by 12 in the fourth, while the Kangs defense held Redmond scoreless.

Gray began the momentum with a 1-yard touchdown run, with extra points scored by Jack Michels. Tad Iba then made a 49-yard run, but McGlynn’s kicked was blocked.

Gray scored his third touchdown of the night on a 5-yard ruck, before Iba found the endzone on a 2-yard run of his own. Iba earned his second endzone trip of the night with a 2-yard run late in the game, which was followed by a recovery in the endzone by Ben Pilska to give the Kangs 39 points.

Lake Washington will be on the road this Friday for the first KingCo conference game of the season, against Mount Si. The game is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
