The blotter feature is both a description of a small selection of police incidents and a statistical round-up of all calls to the Kirkland Police Department that are dispatched to on-duty police officers. The Kirkland Reporter Police Blotter is not intended to be representative of all police calls originating in Kirkland, which average about 800 per week.
Between Nov. 29 to Dec. 2, the Kirkland Police Department reported 253 traffic violations (one DUI), seven traffic accidents, one noise complaint, eight thefts, five domestic violence calls, 20 alarm calls, two motor vehicle prowls, five burglaries, six disturbances, nine civil cases, 10 cases of fraud and six harassment calls. At least 51 people were arrested.
Dec. 2
Burglary: 10 a.m., 100 block of Ninth Lane. A man had his townhouse burglarized overnight as he slept on his couch. The man, who has two roommates, heard the living room sliding door shut at around 3:30 a.m. and thought it was them. A $2,000 watch and a $900 I-pad were taken from the kitchen counter as he slept nearby. The man’s roommates were asleep in their bedrooms upstairs. Police reported that there was mud left on a pillow in the residence.
Assault: 8 p.m., 12800 block of N.E. 70th Place. A 38-year-old Kirkland man was arrested for domestic violence and interfering after he assaulted his daughter’s mother. The man was also in violation of a protection order out of Kent where he lives.
Dec. 1
Warrant arrest: 8:48 p.m., 11700 120th Ave. N.E. A 28-year-old Kirkland man was contacted while walking after he tossed a lit cigarette on the street. The man retrieved the cigarette then was arrested on his outstanding driving without a license warrant.
Illegal substance: 10:33 p.m., 200 Central Way. A vehicle was stopped for speeding and failure to yield to the pedestrian crosswalk. A strong smell of marijuana came from the car, the front passenger admitted it was his and in his pocket. The passenger was arrested.
DUI: 11:21 p.m., 124th Ave. N.E. and N.E. 124th Street. A 22-year-old Lynnwood woman was stopped for not having her lights on during the dark. The odor of alcohol was detected by the officer. The woman failed a field sobriety test and submitted a blood alcohol level of .082.
Nov. 30
Stolen property: 2:09 a.m., 12200 131st Place N.E. An 18-year-old Everett man and a 20-year-old Lynnwood man were arrested while stopped in a car that was reported stolen out of Snohomish County.
Order violation: 12 p.m., 11900 block of 93rd Lane N.E. A 20-year-old Kirkland man was arrested for felony order violation and assault after following a Kirkland woman.
Domestic: 11:38 p.m., 10400 block of N.E. 116th Street. A 20-year-old Kirkland female called police to report that her boyfriend would not leave her house as she requested. Upon arrival the man was contacted and arrested on a $25,000 warrant out of Everett.
Nov. 29
Order violation: 11:40 a.m., 100 block of 10th Ave. A Kirkland woman reported that her ex-husband had given their five-year-old son a dead turkey head. The woman said that the turkey head was intended for her and her boyfriend. The woman also reported that the husband had violated several restraining orders. Police attempted to contact the 46-year-old man and could not. The woman said that she is afraid for the safety of her son. The ex-husband was eventually contacted and arrested.
