Juanita volleyball player Ashley Manzoni had a good night against Mercer Island, tallying 20 digs on defense and five aces from beyond the end-line. But it wasn’t enough as Mercer Island crushed the Rebels 3-1 at Juanita High School Thursday.

The Rebels began the match strong with a 25-20 first-game victory. The Islanders won a tight 25-22 second game. Mercer Island flexed its collective muscles during the third game for a 25-16 win and put the Rebels away with a 25-18 victory.

Dana Michels led the Rebels with 14 kills while Alona Chenish collected 26 assists. Vicky Neam earned 9 kills and 10 digs for the match. Juanita is 3-4 in league play.
