Harold P. “Dick” Everest is the namesake for Everest Park and the Everest Neighborhood in Kirkland. His father moved to Kirkland in 1888 during the Kirk Era.

When there was no more work, Albert Everest went home to Wisconsin but returned in 1906 with a family. Dick Everest is a hometown boy who represents many of Kirkland’s hometown boys. They were educated, patriotic, and devoted to Kirkland.

Dick Everest’s story will be told by Loita Hawkinson with Kirkland Heritage Society at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 29 at Heritage Hall, 203 Market Street, Kirkland. Free and open to the public.
