Armed suspect flees after attempted robbery at Kirkland cash shop

Kirkland police are looking for a suspect who attempted to rob at gunpoint the Check Into Cash shop in Kirkland on Monday.

Kirkland police are looking for a suspect who attempted to rob at gunpoint the Check Into Cash shop in Kirkland on Monday.

The incident happened at approximately 1 p.m. July 22 at the business located at 11420 NE 124th St. in the Totem Lake neighborhood.

The suspect presented a note to a business employee and displayed what appeared to be a handgun in his waistband, said Audra Weber, Kirkland police officer.

“He left without getting anything,” Weber added. “Nobody got hurt.”

Moments later, armed police and a K-9 unit responded to the area and conducted a track with negative results.

Witnesses described the suspect as a skinny white male in his mid-20s, said Weber.

The Reporter received calls from concerned people in the area who witnessed the police activity.

Weber said it’s “common practice” for police to respond to weapon reports with their semi-automatic rifles out.
