The city of Kirkland’s field arborist has deemed three Birch trees located near 7th Avenue and Market Street as dying due to disease and city crews will be removing the trees today.
In response to a call about the top of a tree falling off into Market Street, a site inspection was conducted and found that the broken tree and two other Birch trees near it are 90 percent dead. All trees are about 14-inches in diameter and 30-40 feet tall.
It is not evident if the tree top broke in yesterday’s wind storm.
A city spokesperson said it will develop a replanting plan.
