The blotter feature is both a description of a small selection of police incidents and a statistical round-up of all calls to the Kirkland Police Department that are dispatched to on-duty police officers. The Kirkland Reporter police blotter is not intended to be representative of all police calls originating in Kirkland, which average about 1,000 per week.
Between Oct. 23-29, there were 274 traffic incidents, 32 traffic accidents, three DUIs, 30 general traffic incidents, 44 alarm calls, 11 abandoned vehicles, 12 burglaries, seven incidents of fraud, 19 civil incidents, eight cases of harassment, 14 thefts, 16 vehicle prowls, two vehicle thefts, 12 warrants served, 15 noise complaints, eight animal calls, eight incidents of domestic violence, two incidents of malicious mischief, one rape, 11 disturbances, two sex offenses, six assaults, five hit and runs and 19 incidents involving at least one arrest.
Oct. 29
Assault: 10:30 p.m., 10200 block of NE 132nd St. A 42-year-old man was arrested after he assaulted a nurse at Fairfax Hospital.
Oct. 28
Warrant: 12:20 a.m., Northeast 119th Street and Slater Ave. Northeast. A 21-year-old man was arrested after another man told police he pulled a hand gun on him after a physical altercation at the intersection of 124th Avenue Northeast and Northeast 120th Street. The victim also said he ran home and called 9-1-1. The suspect was later located and taken into custody on his warrant. No weapon was ever located.
Oct. 27
Assault: 10:19 p.m., 14400 block of 124the Ave. NE. Police responded to an initial report of a strong-arm robbery at the Kingsgate Safeway. Store security confronted a 24-year-old man after he stole snacks and beer from the store. They grabbed the items from him and he fled away from the store. They followed him a few blocks away near Kingsgate Ridge and got into a scuffle with him. The suspect fled again. After a K9 track, he was apprehended and booked on theft and assault.
Oct. 26
Theft: 11:30 a.m., 10900 block of NE 53rd St. A 38-year-old man was arrested after being found inside someone else’s work truck. He had found the owner’s handgun, chambered a round, found the spare truck key, put it in the ignition and turned on the accessories. The man was in the process of going through his backpack and the photos on his camera when he was arrested. He was found to be carrying a concealed pistol and three folding knives.
Oct. 24
Theft: 4:37 p.m., 8600 block of 120the Ave. NE. A 34-year-old man was arrested for shoplifting after he was observed by Costco loss prevention concealing items in his pants then leaving the store passing all points of sale without paying for the items. He had never been arrested in the past, so he was taken into custody, administratively booked into the Kirkland Jail and then released on personal recognizance.
Oct. 23
Assault: 7:30 p.m., 12300 block of 120th Pl. NE. A 28-year-old man caused a disturbance at LA Fitness and assaulted one of the staff members. He left prior to officer’s arrival, who later observed him walking in the 11900 block of NE 116th St.
Assault: 5 p.m., 11100 block of 105the Ave. NE. A 45-year-old man was arrested after his girlfriend called 911 telling people he had scratched her and held her by her neck. He ran on foot when police arrived on scene but was taken into custody.
