Kirkland police responded to a report of a traffic collision in the 11200 block of Slater Ave. just before 2 p.m. in Kirkland. The suspect’s vehicle struck an unoccupied parked vehicle. All occupants walked away from the scene, including the male driver, female passenger and two young children.

“The female and children were located a short distance away and were not injured,” Kirkland police Lt. John Haslip said in a release.

The driver was identified by the passengers and witnesses and fled on foot.

“A perimeter and K-9 track was initiated,” said Haslip. “The suspect continued to flee over a prolonged distance and time.”

With the help of Guardian 1, the suspect was located just across the Redmond boundary in the heavily wooded area of the 13600 block of NE 94th St.

Once located, the man was taken into custody without incident and booked into the Kirkland jail. He was arrested for hit and run of an unattended vehicle, driving while license suspended, obstruction and several counts of criminal trespass in the second degree.
