The Juanita High School football team kept rolling Friday with a 46-10 win against Lindbergh. The victory keeps the Rebels perfect on the season with a 4-0 record.
The only part of the Juanita offense that didn’t seem to have much success during the game was the special teams’ attempts to tack on two-point conversions. But just like Juanita on Friday night, most teams don’t have to worry about it when six different players score touchdowns.
Unlike many of the games Juanita has played this season Lindbergh got on the board first with a 23-yard field goal during the first quarter of play. But that score was not a sign of things to come.
Juanita running back Cole Graves plowed through a big hole to score a touchdown from five-yards out. The score gave the Rebels a 6-3 lead, an advantage they would not relinquish. Graves barreled into the end zone behind an offensive line that has led the team to become one of the best running offensive-threats in the state. The team would not convert a two-point attempt following the score.
That same offensive line gave quarterback Derek Kaufman enough time to find wide receiver Kris Otterholt for a ten-yard touchdown pass, giving the Rebels a 12-0 lead, after missing the extra point.
Juanita’s Andre Casino ran the ball into the end zone, giving the team an 18-3 lead, despite a second missed two-point conversion.
The Rebel offense showed just how potent it can be as the fourth different player brought the football across the goal line. Juanita’s Jerimiah Laufasa scored from 12-yards out and Colton Blaisdell tacked on the extra point.
The Rebels bet on Casino to take the ball into the end zone one more time, as the running back broke through the line for a 29-yard score. Blaisdell would add the extra point. Rebel backup running back and defensive specialist Alex Minerich entered the game just prior to half time and scored on a seven-yard run. The extra point brought the lead to an insurmountable 39-3.
Sean Muong’s 18-yard run during the third quarter would finish off the Juanita scoring for the contest, as he became the sixth different Rebel to cross the goal line.
Bothell would get back on the board during the fourth quarter on a 42-yard pass play. But the touchdown would ultimately mean nothing.
The Rebels will get a big in-league challenge as they travel to Renton to take on the Patriots at 7:30 p.m. next Friday. Liberty is coming off their 38-0 win against Sammamish.
