The Juanita High School boys tennis team defeated Ballard 5-2 Thursday, as the team continued its domination of doubles matches.
For the second consecutive meet, the Rebels swept the doubles action with the No. 1 team of Danny Zens and Anthony Cardinelli leading the way. The duo won in straight sets 6-2, 7-6.
True Vue and Michael Chang took the No. 2 doubles match with ease 6-0, 6-2, while teammates Enrique Romero and Garrett Lee also earned a victory 6-4, 7-6.
Depth continues to be an asset for Juanita, as the team’s No. 3 and 4 singles players helped to secure the squad’s victory. Rebel Jonathan Armour defeated Luca Foppoli, 6-3, 6-3 at No. 3, while Austin Chen got past Kensei Kawamura 6-2, 3-6, 6-2, at No. 4.
Other shortened doubles exhibition matches won by the Rebels included Alex Wallin and Ethan Ludlam 8-0, Ernesto Lomeli and Quinn Simpson 8-6 and Dane Baird and Sam Schwabacher 8-2. Juanita’s Vong Chang and Michael Stanus-Ghib lost 4-6.
