After two narrow wins over Redmond in the regular season, Juanita couldn’t maintain the magic in the KingCo 4A tournament.

The Rebels opened the tournament with a 3-0 loss to the Mustangs on May 14. Kylie Sparks started for Juanita and pitched a strong game, striking out seven.

But it wasn’t enough as Redmond’s Erika Hendron and Paige Mullins combined to shutout the Rebels. Redmond broke the scoreless tie in the top of the third inning and then added two insurance runs in the fifth. Jenny Eisenmann went 2-3 with two runs scored.

Juanita moved on to meet Lake Washington and took out some aggression against the Kangs with a 10-0 win on May 15.

The Rebels scored in every inning, including three in the fourth and four in the fifth. Sparks earned the win and Kellie Shinstrom kick-started the offense with a solo homerun in the first inning, part of her 2-4 day.

Juanita then met Redmond again on May 16. The Rebels carried a 3-1 lead into the bottom of the sixth inning, but the lead wouldn’t hold.

Redmond scored two in that inning, then another in the seventh to win 4-3 and eliminate Juanita from the tournament.

Lake Washington

Lake Washington started the KingCo 4A tournament on the right foot, with a comeback 7-6 win over Bothell on May 14.

The teams traded three-run first innings, with Bothell slowly building a 6-5 lead by the seventh. But Tori Jacobsen smacked a two-RBI double in the bottom of the seventh to win the game for the Kangs.

Lake Washington’s Rogin Hardy went 3-3 with two runs, two RBIs and a homerun in the game.

Lake Washington then lost 9-0 to Eastlake on May 15. The 10-0 loss to Juanita on May 15 eliminated the Kangs from the tournament.
