Kirkland joins online business roster
Kirkland businesses interested in bidding on public construction projects, providing professional services or supplying goods and products can now register online with a shared procurement portal, www.WaGovBiz.net.
The Web site is the latest product of the “eCityGov Alliance” and allows for the free online registration of a business, acceptance into the Small Works Roster and electronic submittal of a Statement of Qualification (SOQ) for certain government solicitations.
The City of Kirkland is hosting two informational workshops to demonstrate the Web portal and share how local companies can do business with the city from 7:30-8:30 a.m. May 22 and from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. on June 12. Both meetings are at Kirkland City Hall.
Interested businesses can register for any of six rosters: small works, professional services/Architectural & Engineering, information technology, general services, supply vendor and legal services. Participating cities include Kirkland, Bellevue, Bothell, Issaquah, Kenmore, Mercer Island, Sammamish, Snoqualmie and Woodinville. By providing the roster application process online, businesses need only create one profile that can be updated at any time.
Firm wins habitat improvement project
The Bureau of Reclamation last month awarded a contract for architect-engineering services to Anchor Environmental, L.L.C., of Kirkland.
The contract, worth about $5 million, is for fish habitat improvement projects in the Pacific Northwest Region, Reclamation said in a news release.
Anchor Environmental will provide assistance with planning, permitting, hydraulic engineering and modeling and preparation of designs for fish passage and habitat improvement structures.
The contracts, awarded on April 17, will primarily support the efforts of the Columbia/Snake River Salmon Recovery Office, which coordinates fish habitat improvement projects for salmon and steelhead in Idaho, Oregon and Washington.
Carillon Point Marina certified “clean”
Carillon Point Marina in Kirkland was last week designated as one of 34 “Clean Marinas” in the state by Clean Marina Washington, a partnership of government agencies, environmental advocates and marine businesses.
The voluntary, incentive-based program asks that participating agencies maintain records of hazardous waste disposal, institute environmentally friendly purchasing, support a local beach clean-up and educate boaters on environmentally-friendly, boat maintenance.
