Kirkland firefighters from IAFF Local No. 2545 were out collecting donations with boots in hand for the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) on Aug. 6. Throughout the day, firefighters collected $11,000 dollars in donations from generous community members.

Proceeds raised during the street side campaign will help support the MDA services and research programs. Firefighters have filled the boot for MDA since 1954, raising approximately $453 million.

Without the help of charitable commuters and support from the International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF), Fill the Boot would not be possible.

MDA is the nonprofit health agency dedicated to curing muscular dystrophy, ALS and related diseases by funding worldwide research.
