The first results of the top-two primary for Kirkland City Council Position No. 2 were officially released Tuesday night with incumbent Shelley Kloba easily advancing to the general election and businessman Bill Henkens and Kirkland Parks Board member Jason Chinchilla too close to call.
According to King County Elections, Kloba has received the most votes so far with 4,698 (58.15 percent) as of Tuesday evening.
But Henkens and Chinchilla were within 53 votes of each other. Henkens narrowly holds second place, pulling in 1,353 votes or 16.75 percent. Chinchilla has 1,300 votes or 16.09 percent.
Jory Hamilton is currently in a distant fourth place with 702 votes or 8.69 percent.
The general election will be held Nov. 3.
King County Elections will release more vote totals tomorrow. The Kirkland Reporter will post an update when new vote totals are released.
