The blotter feature is both a description of a small selection of police incidents and a statistical round-up of all calls to the Kirkland Police Department that are dispatched to on-duty police officers. The Kirkland Reporter Police Blotter is not intended to be representative of all police calls originating in Kirkland, which average about 1,200 per week.
Between May 13-19, the Kirkland Police Department reported 701 traffic violations (11 DUIs), 22 alarm calls, 14 car accidents, eight noise complaints, 16 thefts, seven car prowls, three domestic violence calls, seven calls for harassment, 11 acts of fraud, nine calls of a disturbance, five calls for illegal substances and eight calls of civil disturbance. At least 48 people were arrested.
May 19
Assault: 2 a.m., Main Street and Central Way. A 28-year-old Kirkland man was arrested after he assaulted his girlfriend and a man she had met at the Time Out bar.
May 17
Traffic offense: 11:26 p.m., 5000 southbound 405 N.E. A 30-year-old Kirkland woman was flagged for a traffic infraction, but failed to stop. The woman was eventually stopped at her home and found to be driving without a license.
May 16
DUI: 5:50 p.m., 12200 N.E. 124th Street. A 45-year-old Lynnwood man was contacted in the parking lot of the AM/PM and arrested for DUI and submitted a blood alcohol sample of .174.
May 15
Disorderly conduct: 1:10 a.m., 218 Central Way. Two men got into an altercation with bouncers at the Time Out bar and were arrested.
Theft: 2:22 a.m., 12500 block of N.E. 85th Street. A 30-year-old Grants Pass, Ore. man refused to pay a $45 cab fair and pushed the driver to the ground before fleeing the scene. The man was caught later and provided police with a false identity before being arrested.
May 14
Minor, liquor violation: 10:36 p.m., 12200 120th Ave. N.E. A 19-year-old University Place female was contacted in the parking lot of the Rodeo and had a half full bottle of Corona beer next to her. The woman admitted to drinking the beer and was arrested after submitting a blood alcohol sample of .013.
Minor, liquor violation: 9:40 p.m., 52 Lakeshore Plaza. A 16-year-old Kirkland boy was contacted laying face down near K-Town. The boy showed signs of intoxication and submitted a blood alcohol sample of .116.
May 13
Disorderly conduct: 2:04 a.m., 100 Kirkland Ave. A Kirkland Police officer witnessed two men fighting at the corner of Lake Street and Kirkland Ave. Both were arrested.
Illegal substance: 5:29 p.m., 200 Third Street. A 17- and an 18-year-old Kirkland males were arrested for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
