The Kirkland Arts Center announced that Pam Rembold is its new executive director, effective May 20. Rembold brings a wide range of visual arts non-profit experience to her new role in leading the Kirkland Arts Center.
Most recently, she served as executive director of The Northwest Art Alliance, which produced Best of the Northwest art and fine craft shows.
Rembold served on the Board of Directors for the alliance from 2008 to 2010 and assumed the position of executive director in June of 2009. Under her leadership, the company became a nonprofit and achieved 501(c)(3) status.
Her background prior to joining the alliance included being one of the founding members of the Sammamish Arts Commission that she chaired.
She has also held an Advisory Board position with the Bellevue Art Museum during its turnaround, and served on the Visual Arts Committee of the Redmond Arts Commission for three years.
Rembold retired in 2001 after 17 years with a technology company. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Art with a minor in Psychology from Humboldt State University.
“I am delighted to be involved in this organization and hope to evolve the vibrant Kirkland arts community,” said Rembold.
She succeeds outgoing interim executive director Rebecca Zanatta, senior partner with the Ostara Group, an expert in nonprofit management, who ably led the Kirkland Arts Center during the search process and prepared it for new leadership over the last several months.
Kirkland Arts Center promotes artistic mastery and public participation in the visual arts through innovative classes, contemporary exhibitions and events.
The center was founded as the Creative Arts League in 1962 by a group of artists and citizens interested in providing local opportunities in the arts and concerned about the preservation of a Kirkland landmark, the Peter Kirk Building.
For more than 50 years, the Kirkland Arts Center has owned and maintained this historic structure and transformed it into an exhibition gallery, community arts studio and education facility serving students of all ages and skill levels.
