Evergreen Hospital Medical Center received a 2009 Engineering Excellence Award from the American Council of Engineering Companies Washington. The bronze award for “Future Value to the Engineering Profession and Perception by the Public” was presented to the hospital March 18 by Notkin Mechanical Engineers. Notkin helped design and construct Evergreen’s Emergency Department expansion and Silver patient tower projects. The award recognized the hospital’s commitment to patient and staff safety and the energy efficiency of these projects while staying within the budget set by the public bond levy.
Notkin Mechanical Engineers, based in Seattle, has been the mechanical engineer of record for many projects at Evergreen. The company recently completed the design for the Pre-Surgery Care Unit expansion and currently is preparing the mechanical systems design for Evergreen Cancer Center. Both projects are scheduled to open in 2011.
