Juanita girls trounce Kent-Meridian
In a non-conference afternoon match, the Juanita girls improved their record to 6-1 with a 65-27 win over Kent-Meridian.
The Rebels dominated the game, holding the Royals to just nine points in the first half and 18 in the second half. During the rout, senior captain Kate Cryderman posted the team high of 16 points, followed by Molly Grager’s 15. Both Taylor Paddock and Jessica Latousek put up 10 points for the team, while Mikayla Jones added seven. Tayler Lloyd had three and Bre Carter and Destry Seiler each had two in the win.
Lake Washington girls bring home two wins from Oregon tournament
After traveling south to the South Salem Christmas Tournament, the Lake Washington girls team earned two wins over Oregon opponents. The Kangs beat Grants Pass and Corvalis on Monday and Tuesday of last week.
Lake Washington started the tournament off against Grants Pass, winning 41-38 in a close game. Hunter Hopkins came up big for the team with 15 points, while Kate Whitfield had 10. Whitney Dunlap and Peyton Wozeniak each added four, while Cassie Lively and Taylor Solomon had three and Melissa Wilson put up two.
The following afternoon the team beat Corvalis 59-45.
Solomon posted the team high with 17 points, as Whitfield put up 13 during the match and Dunlap added 11. Hopkins, Lively and Wilson each added six for the team.
The Kangs are now 5-3 on the season with a 2-2 league record.

Juanita boys fall twice at Bothell Christmas tournament
The Juanita boys team fell twice during the Bothell Christmas tournament prior to the holidays. The Rebels lost to Bothell and Kelowna, a team out of British Columbia.
On Tuesday, Dec. 21 the Rebels faced Bothell, the hosts of the tournament. While Juanita hung in for the first three quarters, a 29 point run in the final eight minutes by Bothell eclipsed the Rebels efforts.
Kellen Gildersleeve had 23 points in the game, while Ryan Reid had 12 total, Devan Jackson put up 8 points, Ty Eng had four and Nate Dean and Nicola Stanjik each posted two points.
The next day against Kelowna, the Rebels fell 53-42.
Jackson had 13 points in the loss, while Eng put up 10 for the Rebels. Taylor Williams added eight points, Gildersleeve had five, Reid three and Stanjik another three.
