Molina Healthcare of Washington honored the volunteerism and service of local volunteer Doris Trott at its fifth annual Community Champions Awards Ceremony in Renton.

The event was held at the Renton Pavilion Event Center and featured entertainment by the DASH Center for the Arts.

“Whether she is coordinating mobile medical and dental services or leading an exercise class, Doris is the perfect model of a ‘can do’ person,” said Bela Biro, president of Molina Healthcare of Washington. “Her attitude is contagious and motivates those around her to do more.”

At 85 years old, Trott dedicates herself to a full 40 hour work week as a volunteer with Jubilee REACH, assisting hundreds of people who are down on their luck. She serves as a cultural navigator, helping people deal with bureaucracies, access to medical and dental services and connects people to appropriate resources they need.

The Community Champions program celebrates the vision of Dr. C. David Molina, the founder of Molina Healthcare, as well as community partners who work together to care for society’s most vulnerable individuals.

Each community champion is nominated by a community-based organization and receives a $1,000 grant to give to a deserving nonprofit organization of his/her choice. Trott donated her grant to Jubilee REACH in Bellevue. For more information about the organization, visit jubileereach.org.
