The weekly Kirkland Police blotter is represented on an interactive map below. Instead of listing the selection of calls separately, this feature allows the information relating to the call to be placed on the map itself.
The blotter feature is both a description of a small selection of police incidents and a statistical round-up of all calls to the Kirkland Police Department that are dispatched to on-duty police officers. The Kirkland Reporter Police Blotter is not intended to be representative of all police calls originating in Kirkland, which average about 800 per week.
Between July 8-13, the Kirkland Police Department reported 277 traffic violations (one DUI), 13 traffic accidents, 25 noise complaints, 18 car prowls, 18 alarm calls, 11 thefts, six assaults, six domestic violence calls, four animal control calls, two car thefts, two burglary calls and three acts of fraud. At least 28 people were arrested.

July 13
Minor liquor violation: 2:44 a.m., 11900 block of Slater Ave. N.E. Joshua Bernabe Gaspar, 19, and Kara Trish Plensky, 18, both of Bellevue were arrested for minor in possession.
Assault: 1:13 p.m., 9800 block of N.E. 122nd Street. Someone called to report the possible assault of an 86-year-old Russian female that does not speak english. Victim was possibly pushed down, punched and scratched. Officer was to return when interpreter was available.
July 12
Assist: 9:23 p.m., 123 5th Ave. Officers transported Dennis S. Vanway Jr. from the Snohomish County Jail to the Kirkland Police Department Jail.
July 11
Assist: 11:07 p.m., 1200 block of N.E. 124th Street. A 38-year-old woman was taken to Evergreen Hospital for a medical evaluation and social services after being found too intoxicated to care for herself.
Disturbance: 1:10 a.m., 12000 block of N.E. 62nd Street. The disturbance was caused by an underage drinking party. Kyle Mullen, 20, of Florida and Oscar Covarrubias, 19, of Yakima were both seen fleeing the residence and were apprehended a short distance away by officers. Mullen was arrested for obstruction and minor in possession. Covarrubias was arrested for obstruction and the 3.3 grams of marijuana in his shoe.
July 10
Domestic violence: 3:04 a.m., 100 block of 17th Place. A 23-year-old female and a 28-year-old male, both from Kirkland, got into a verbal argument over her desire to drive home. The woman stated that the man ripped his shirt as he was walking out of the garage to go next door so that they could call the cops. The reporting party said that he heard yelling begin around 1 a.m. The reporting party also stated that the woman mentioned the man used a knife to cut his shirt. It did not appear to the officer that the rip was from a knife. The man was gone on arrival and there was no evidence that anything physical happened.
July 9
DUI: 1:56 a.m., 8500 I405 N.E. Vincent J. Maughan, 24, of Bellevue was stopped for erratic driving and arrested for DUI.
Traffic offense: 1:50 p.m. 12600 N.E. 85th Street. Travis P. Henderson, 37, of Woodinville was arrested for driving while his license was suspended or revoked.
July 8
Malicious mischief: 12:01 a.m., 400 block of 7th Ave. Numerous vehicles in the area had windows broken out.
Controlled substance: 9:20 a.m., 123 5th Ave. Katherine A. Cochran, 50, of Redmond arrived at the jail to be fitted for her electronic monitoring system due to court commitment. She was found to have approximately 1.28 grams of methamphetamine, a loaded syringe and two glass pipes located inside a glasses case in her purse. Cochran stated that she had found the drugs and the items in her home and was planning to destroy them later.
