Kirkland schools return to normal schedule, handful of residents still without power

Puget Sound Energy is still working to restore electricity to a handful of homes in the Kirkland area. According to PSE’s outage map, Kirkland has just 15 homes without power.

“Crews are working around the clock to restore power to customers impacted by Tuesday’s damaging windstorm,” a message on the PSE website reads. “We currently have a total of 78 crews along with servicemen, tree crews, damage assessors and hundreds of support personnel in the field. Power will be restored to most customers today, with repair efforts continuing through Friday and Saturday.”

Statewide, more than 215,000 people were without power across the area due to a strong wind storm that passed through Washington state on Tuesday and Wednesday, according the the National Weather Service Seattle branch.

The Washington Emergency Management Division reported major flood levels at the Stillaguamish River at Granite falls with water on the roads and flooding expected in the Silvana areas near Arlington on Wednesday.

Major flood warnings are under effect for the Snohomish River near Monroe and Snohomish according to the National Weather Service.

According to the National Weather Service Spokane branch, gusts of wind of up to 77 mph were reported in Spangle. Gust of up to 116 mph were reported at Ski Mission Ridge by KXLY out of Spokane.
