The blotter feature is both a description of a small selection of police incidents and a statistical round-up of all calls to the Kirkland Police Department that are dispatched to on-duty police officers. The Kirkland Reporter Police Blotter is not intended to be representative of all police calls originating in Kirkland, which average about 1,000 per week.
Between Sept. 2 to Sept. 8, the Kirkland Police Department reported 524 traffic violations (12 DUIs, five hit and runs), 34 alarm calls, 21 car accidents, 25 noise complaints, seven thefts, one burglary, one robbery, 19 car prowls, nine domestic violence calls, seven calls for harassment, six acts of fraud, 17 calls of a disturbance and one animal-related calls. At least 39 people were arrested.
Sept. 8
Shoplifting: 4:01 p.m., 11224 N.E. 124th St. A 30-year-old Everett man was arrested for stealing a pack of cigarettes, a six-pack of beer, bottles of wine and a CD from the Totem Lake QFC sometime between May 1 through Sept. 8.
Sept. 7
Forgery: Victim called police to report possible ID theft and credit card fraud. The victim said she was overcharged by a Texas company when she ordered her birth certificate online. She was advised to contact the company.
Traffic offense: A 32-year-old Marysville man was stopped for a traffic violation and found to be driving with a suspended license. He was arrested.
DUI : 11:15 p.m., 12229 131st Pl. N.E. A 23-year-old Kirkland man was stopped after he was seen bouncing his vehicle off the curbs as he drove by. He was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol after he performed poorly on field sobriety tests and provided a preliminary breath test of .119 and blood alcohol content readings of .120 and .116.
Sept. 6
Assault: 8:30 p.m., 8200 block of 126th Ave. N.E. A 40-year-old Kirkland man called police to report that he and his girlfriend were having an argument. He said his girlfriend hit him on his back. Around 10 p.m., the girlfriend also called 911 to report the incident. She told dispatch her boyfriend assaulted her and pulled on her arm. She just had shoulder surgery. The man was arrested.
Weapons violation: 8:54 a.m., 11500 block of N.E. 118th St. A 22-year-old Seattle man was arrested for possession of a dangerous weapon – metal knuckles covered with black electrical tape – at the Kirkland Municipal Court.
Warrant arrest: 7:46 a.m., 9800 block of N.E. 132nd St. A 43-year-old Kirkland man was stopped on traffic and arrested on his third-degree driving with a suspended license warrant with a bail of $5,500. He had an additional warrant out of Ocean Shores for the same offense. He was booked into Kirkland Jail.
Sept. 4
DUI, hit and run: 11:15 p.m., 13100 block of N.E. 123rd St. A 46-year-old Kirkland man was found passed out in his car in the Cedar Heights parking lot after he struck a parked vehicle elsewhere. He admitted to driving from the Santa Fe Bar and Grill, but did not remember striking the vehicle and leaving his front bumper and license plate behind. He was arrested for DUI and hit and run and refused a BAC.
Vandalism: 12:36 a.m., 5400 block of 113th Pl. N.E. Someone prowled a vehicle at Northwest University overnight. The suspect entered the unlocked vehicle, rummaged through the compartments and took apart the steering console in an apparent attempt to steal the vehicle. Nothing of value was taken.
Sept. 3
DUI: 2:29 a.m., 11400 block of N.E. 85th St. Police stopped a vehicle for driving without any lights on. The 31-year-old Redmond man appeared to be intoxicated and refused all field sobriety tests. He was booked into Kirkland Jail on DUI.
Warrant arrest: 3 p.m., 11600 block of N.E. 128th St. A 32-year-old Woodinville man was contacted after he fell into the roadway. He was arrested on his Department of Corrections escape warrant.
Sept. 2
DUI: 2:10 a.m., 11600 124th Ave. N.E. A 25-year-old Everett woman was stopped for a traffic violation and arrested for DUI. She submitted a BAC of .111 and .117.
Bar fight: 1:29 a.m., downtown. A patrol officer on foot at Tiki Joes called for backup and reported the large crowd was on the verge of breaking into a fight.
DUI: 2:28 a.m., 316 5th Ave. A vehicle collided with four parked cars and then overturned with the driver trapped inside. The 24-year-old Snohomish man was arrested for DUI. A gun and 27 rounds of live ammunition were found in his car.
