A 32-year-old father and his four sons died early Saturday morning in a two-alarm apartment fire in Redmond. The 31-year-old mother was the only family member to survive.
Kirkland Fire, along with crews from Bellevue and Woodinville, helped the Redmond Fire Department to attempt to get the blaze under controll at the Sammamish Ridge Apartments.
Investigators from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, Seattle Fire Department canine arson detection unit and Washington State Patrol were also called in according to The Seattle PI.
A call to 9-1-1 was received at approximately 2:30 a.m. The complex reportedly had fire alarms but no sprinklers, which were not required when the building was constructed in the mid-1980s.
