The blotter feature is both a description of a small selection of police incidents and a statistical round-up of all calls to the Kirkland Police Department that are dispatched to on-duty police officers. The Kirkland Reporter police blotter is not intended to be representative of all police calls originating in Kirkland, which average about 1,000 per week.
Between June 7-13, the Kirkland Police Department reported 482 traffic violations (nine DUIs), 28 traffic accidents, 25 school zone traffic violations, six animal calls, 38 alarm calls, 16 noise complaints, 12 calls of disturbance, 10 thefts, nine car prowls, three car thefts, 14 calls of civil disturbance, 11 reported burglaries, three juvenile crimes, 19 domestic violence calls, nine calls for harassment, one report of illegal drugs, three alleged assaults, 11 acts of fraud, six malicious mischief reports, one rape and three suicides. At least 55 people were arrested.
June 13
Assault: 2:20 a.m., 6700 block of 110th Ave. NE. A 37-year-old man was arrested for fourth-degree assault after he allegedly assaulted his 51-year-old girlfriend at their residence.
Domestic violence: 2:45 p.m., 11600 block of 132nd Ave. NE. A 24-year-old man was taken into custody after admitting to kicking his ex-girlfriend’s car door. He also allegedly made threats to her over the phone.
Malicious mischief: 8:15 p.m., 13200 block of 126th Pl. NE. A 15-year-old girl kicked a large hole through her bedroom door and threw several items around her room after she got upset that her mother took her cell phone and bus pass. A blue glass pipe, a pink straw, a paper clip and a tin cap, thought to be drug paraphernalia, was seized and destroyed. The girl was booked into the King County Juvenile Detention Center.
June 12
Domestic violence: 2:20 p.m., 12600 block of NE 132nd St. A 24-year-old woman was arrested for assaulting a 24-year-old man during an argument about cleaning the house. The man was subsequently arrested for violating a no contact order. Police also found three checkbooks not belonging to either person after a search.
June 11
Motor vehicle theft: 9 p.m., 8200 block of 126th Ave. NE. A 27-year-old woman reported her red Suzuki as stolen. She told police she had a strange encounter with another resident who she believes is selling vehicles in the Kelley Moore Paint parking lot next door. She said it is unknown how the person obtains the vehicles. Her car was recovered in Seattle.
Domestic violence: 11:58 p.m., 12600 block of 145th Pl. A 24-year-old woman was arrested after she allegedly pushed, shoved and threatened her boyfriend with a knife.
June 9
Domestic violence: 2 a.m., 10900 block of 113th Ct. NE. A 23-year-old man was taken into custody after assaulting his 38-year-old girlfriend.
Domestic violence: 8 p.m., 10000 block of NE 120th St. A 47-year-old woman was arrested for felony harassment after she wielded a large butcher knife and threatened to kill her 16-year-old son. Her son closed himself in his room to get away from his mom but she broke the bedroom door down. The boy escaped through the bedroom window while on the phone with 9-1-1.
June 8
Domestic violence: 11 p.m., 10600 block of NE 138th Pl. A 28-year-old woman was taken into custody after getting into a physical altercation with her 34-year-old boyfriend.
Assault: 12:30 a.m., 8800 block of NE 137th Pl. A 27-year-old man was arrested for throwing his 22-year-old girlfriend to the ground outside of his residence. He continued to argue and harass her inside his residence.
Domestic violence: 10:30 p.m., 11600 block of 100th Ave. NE. A 46-year-old man was taken into custody after he grabbed his wife’s leg, causing it to hyperextend, and got on top of her while she was on the ground as he yelled at her. The wife was able to get away after she locked him outside on the porch.
June 7
Domestic violence: 9:24 p.m., 11500 block of NE 128th St. A 25-year-old man was taken into custody after getting into a physical fight with his 55-year-old father-in-law.
Obstruction: 9:35 p.m., 13400 block of NE 135th St. A 38-year-old man was arrested for drunkenly knocking on a 38-year-old woman’s door. When police arrived, the man became aggressive and was booked into jail.
Domestic violence: 2:50 a.m., 6900 block of 116th Ave. NE. A 27-year-old woman was taken into custody after she bit her ex-girlfriend, who is also her roommate. Police arrested her a short distance from her residence after she fled on foot.
Assault: 5 p.m., 13200 block of 132nd Ave. NE. A 28-year-old man was arrested for punching his girlfriend in the shoulder and forcing her to slap herself in the face with her own hand .
