Girls soccer
Lake Washington tied their first game of the season against non-league opponent Eastlake.
The Kangs and the Wolves ended the game with a 2-2 tie on Tuesday night at Lake Washington High School.
Kang Shelby Bergren scored first, assisted by Chloe Clowers in the 38th minute, followed by Eastlake’s Rebecca Priestly scoring moments later. Allie Garrett scored for Eastlake in the 63rd minute to give the Wolves a short lead, but Bergren connected again, this time assisted by Kaiti Brixey in the 76th minute.
In the Kangs second game of the week, they lost 4-1 to Issaquah in another non-conference game.
Emma Holm scored the team’s lone goal, assisted by Kaiti Brixey in the 25th minute, after Issaquah was already up by three goals.
The Kangs are now 0-1-1 this season.
Boys tennis
The Juanita boys tennis team lost in a non-conference match on Tuesday, falling to Mariner 6-1.
Bill Harita won Juanita’s lone match of the afternoon, beating Daniel Ngugyen in a single’s match 6-3 and 6-1. Nick Hoang of Mariner beat Austin Chen 6-4, 4-6, 1-0 (10-8), while David Schillreff beat Juanita’s Jordan Sodeman 6-2, 6-4. Jeck Calinagan beat Joel Hilborn 6-1, 6-0.
In the doubles competition, Cole Sims-Alex Hoang beat Danny Baba-Sam Schwabacher 7-5, 7-6 (7-5), while Illia Hatalki-Kal Johal beat Josh Reyes-Luke White 6-4, 6-2, while Adrian Douglas-Jordan Spath beat Juanita’s Paul Reed-Baxter Miller 3-6, 7-5, 1-0 (15-13).
Volleyball
Lake Washington lost their first game of the season on Wednesday evening.
The Kangs, facing off against non-league opponent Skyline, fell 3-0 (25-17, 25-17, 25-18).
The team will be playing Mercer Island tonight, in the first league game of the season, before traveling to Bellevue next week.
