The blotter feature is both a description of a small selection of police incidents and a statistical round-up of all calls to the Kirkland Police Department that are dispatched to on-duty police officers. The Kirkland Reporter Police Blotter is not intended to be representative of all police calls originating in Kirkland, which average about 800 per week.
Between April 14-20, the Kirkland Police Department reported 409 traffic violations (at least seven DUIs), 11 alarm calls, 16 car accidents, one burglary, 13 noise complaints, 16 thefts, five car prowls, four malicious mischief calls, 10 domestic violence calls, five acts of fraud, 12 calls of a disturbance, seven illegal substance calls, two assaults and seven calls of harassment. At least 38 people were arrested.
April 19
Disturbance: 11:45 p.m., 9700 N.E. 119th Way. An officer responded to a disturbance at an apartment building. Upon arrival he contacted the reporting party outside who told him that he had met the man who lives in the apartment complex while in rehab. The reporting party had offered a man and his girlfriend a place to stay at the apartment. He told the officer that a third man came to the apartment for dinner and after all four got drunk the third man was asked to leave. The man he met at rehab accused the third man of sleeping with his girlfriend. The man left the premises, but an altercation between the reporting party and the man ensued. The man was arrested for assault and disorderly conduct.
April 17
DUI: 10:54 p.m., 200 Lake Street S. A 55-year-old Seattle man was arrested for DUI.
Theft: 5:20 p.m., 12221 120th Ave. N.E. A 47-year-old Seattle man was observed by Fred Meyer loss prevention shoplifting $306.92 in men’s cologne. The man was also found to have a warrant and was arrested.
Illegal substance: 7:45 p.m., 211 Parkplace Center. Two teenagers, a 14-year-old girl and a 13-year-old girl, were both by QFC loss prevention shoplifting food items. QFC refuses to prosecute under $10 of theft, however, one of the girls was found to have alcohol, marijuana and a smoking pipe. The 14-year-old was arrested and both juveniles were brought home.
Minor, liquor violation: 11:51 p.m., 13000 block of N.E. 70th Place. A 20-year-old Bellingham man was arrested for minor in consumption and misrepresentation of age.
Warrant: 3 p.m., 12200 block of N.E. 124th Street. A 38-year-old man was arrested for an outstanding warrant.
DUI: 6:30 a.m., 12200 block of 124th Street. A 50-year-old Kirkland man was contacted in his running vehicle in the parking lot of the Comfort Inn. The driver was arrested for DUI.
April 16
DUI: 8:56 p.m., 12000 N.E. 130th Lane. A 49-year-old Kirkland man was stopped for multiple traffic violations and arrested for DUI.
Disorderly conduct: 12:59 a.m., 200 Kirkland Ave. A 41-year-old woman was arrested for disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.
April 15
Malicious mischief: 4:15 a.m., 12400 block of 104th Ave. N.E. A 13-year-old girl, who was in home detention, was arrested for malicious mischief after punching a wall. The girl was also charged with domestic violence, minor in possession of alcohol and possession of marijuana.
Theft: 2:12 p.m., 8629 120th Ave. N.E. A 35-year-old Bellevue man was arrested for shoplifting at Costco.
April 14
DUI: 8:20 p.m., 11300 N.E. 124th Street. A 40-year-old man was stopped at a red light while an officer behind him watched him drink out of a bottle of beer. The man was arrested for DUI.
