James Warning, 56, a contractor who served 15 years in prison for kidnapping and assaulting a 6-year-old girl near Kirkland, was arrested in Seattle last week after he allegedly exposed himself to a 4-year-old girl. Warning, who is a Level III sex offender, was charged with indecent exposure.

Warning exposed himself to a child living at a Mount Baker home that he was a sub-contractor at on July 8, according to King County prosecutors. The girl and Warning were alone in the living room at the time, according to charging papers filed in King County Superior Court.

The papers state that the girl told her parents and police that Warning asked her to show him her “private spot,” but she refused.

Warning was arrested by Kittitas County Sheriff’s deputies July 14 near Stampede Pass when his credit card showed that he had made some purchases at a Snoqualmie Pass ski resort. Initially, Warning’s family had filed a missing persons report the day after the incident.

Prosecutors have requested that Warning be held on $500,000 bail because of his prior conviction.

Warning was found guilty of attempted murder, kidnapping and attempted child molestation in 1989 after luring a 6-year-old girl into his truck. When the girl refused to touch his privates. He choked her and abandoned her unconscious body in a wooded area. Level III sex offenders are listed as the most dangerous and likely to re-offend.
