Second Thursday’s on Park Lane begins May 14

With the closing of the Thomas Magnelson’s Gallery last month, the three remaining galleries in downtown Kirkland have banded together with their neighboring retailers and restaurants to start a new event called Second Thursdays on Park Lane.

With the closing of the Thomas Magnelson’s Gallery last month, the three remaining galleries in downtown Kirkland have banded together with their neighboring retailers and restaurants to start a new event called Second Thursdays on Park Lane.

Beginning next week on May 14th – Park Lane will become something of an Arts Extravaganza every second Thursday from May through October from 6-9 p.m. The street will be closed to traffic, and live jazz music will be featured on the west end next to Lakeshore Gallery and the McLeod Fountain. Merchants and galleries will feature local artists selling and demonstrating their crafts, and the streets will become one big canvas with chalk artists showing their talents in a friendly competition. Next week will also feature a wandering magician – with the hopes of adding additional performance artists and body painting later in the summer.

The galleries, merchants and restaurants on Park Lane hope to expand Second Thursdays to encompass all of downtown Kirkland as the event gains momentum.
