The Crossfire Premier Boys U18 soccer team, including Kirkland resident Jordan Zogg, recently played in the U.S. Soccer Academy National Championships in Greensboro, N.C. The Crossfire team, which is comprised of players from across Wester Washington, beat Los Angeles FC Chelsea 4-0.
The successful tournament finish put the Crossfire team in the Elite 8, competing for the National title at the Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif. starting July 10.
During the North Carolina tournament the Crossfire team won their group with two wins and a tie, starting with a 1-1 tie against Ohio’s Columbus Crew team. They next beat the Dallas Texans 1-0 before beating the Los Angeles team.
“This is an excellent result not only for the Academy U-18 team but for the whole club, as it demonstrates the excellence of the Crossfire Premier soccer program. I would like to thank all coaches and volunteers who are contributing to make our club a top soccer destination for all boys and girls in the Northwest” said Crossfire head coach Bernie James in a press release. The team is 5-2-5 this season.
The U.S. Soccer Development Academy Playoffs feature the top 32 teams in the country.
