Dogs, just like humans, like to frolic in the waters of Lake Washington. But just like their best friends, they are susceptible to the dangers of going too far from shore.
A Kirkland dog, Sadie, found that out the hard way Monday after following some seagulls out into deep waters. Luckily, the owner of Perfect Wave Surf Shop Bobby Arzadon was there to save her.
Sadie was out playing with her family and got out too far. She began to struggle in the water and some local reporters from Evening Magazine alerted Arzadon. The surf-shop owner sprang into action, grabbed a stand-up paddle board and made his way onto the lake. He got the dog onto the paddle board and brought her back to the shore, reuniting Sadie with her owners.
“There are not enough ‘thank yous’ in the world to tell you how wonderful you are in saving Sadie,” posted Peggy Sherlin on a Facebok message board. “The reporters for alerting Bobby to the situations and for Bobby jumping into action. She would have never made it without you all.”
Sherlin said that the family adopted Sadie just six months ago.
“She has brought such joy to us,” Sherlin said. “I can’t imagine anything happening to her. We now know she loves seagulls and will do anything to get to them – big lesson learned! Thank you again!”
Evening Magazine on KING 5 will showed the complete rescue on Monday night.
