The blotter feature is both a description of a small selection of police incidents and a statistical round-up of all calls to the Kirkland Police Department that are dispatched to on-duty police officers. The Kirkland Reporter police blotter is not intended to be representative of all police calls originating in Kirkland, which average about 1,000 per week.
Between April 4-10, the Kirkland Police Department reported 398 traffic violations, five DUIs, six school zone traffic violations, six animal calls, 31 alarm calls, 13 noise complaints, two juvenile crimes, eight calls of disturbance, 17 thefts, seven car prowls, five car thefts, 21 traffic accidents, five calls of civil disturbance, seven reported burglaries, four domestic violence calls, four calls for harassment, one report of illegal drugs, two alleged assault, 15 acts of fraud, four malicious mischief reports, one robbery, two calls for prostitution and four suicide calls. At least 23 people were arrested.
April 9
Prostitution: 4 a.m., 12000 block of 100th Ave. NE. Police are investigating a 45-year-old woman who is believed to be a prostitute. The woman advertises on backpages and “tnaboard” under a different name and runs in-call services out of her apartment.
Prostitution: 6 a.m., 100 block of Fifth Ave. Police are investigating a possible Asian prostitution group working within Kirkland and Bellevue.
April 7
Warrant: 7:07 p.m., 9900 block of NE 144th Lane. A 37-year-old woman was arrested on a misdemeanor warrant after she called police concerning a civil issue.
April 6
Hit-and-run: 1:30 a.m., 10600 block of NE 60th St. A 19-year-old man was arrested for crashing his mother’s Infiniti into a 72-year-old man’s property and then driving away. After the victim called police, officers found the Infiniti one block away with heavy front-end damage and a deployed airbag.
Theft: 3 p.m., 10000 block of NE 137th St. An 18-year-old man and was arrested for stealing at least two bottles of Crown Royal and a DVD from the Juanita Safeway. Police found the man at a nearby Pizza Hut after he fled on foot from the grocery store.
Domestic violence: 8 p.m., 10900 block of NE 133rd St. A 49-year-old man was arrested for assaulting his 45-year-old wife and damaging several items in their home.
Theft: 8:15 p.m., 14100 block of Juanita Drive NE. An 18-year-old man was arrested for stealing a yellow trail mountain bike with camouflage rims while the owner was inside QFC.
Minor in possession: 12:10 a.m., 200 block of First St. Two 17-year-old boys were arrested for possessing alcohol, and obstruction after police found them, and several others, intoxicated. Someone complained the juveniles were breaking bottles in a parking garage and when the two saw police, they ran and didn’t stop when instructed by police.
Liquor violation: 7:55 a.m., 12500 block of Totem Lake Boulevard NE. A 19-year-old man was arrested for being a minor in consumption. Police saw the man passed out at the wheel, parked at a gas pump. After he was awakened, he admitted to drinking the night before and provided a preliminary breath test of .079.
April 5
Warrant: 8:13 a.m., 10900 block of NE 68th St. A 61-year-old man was arrested on his King County Sheriff’s Office misdemeanor warrant.
Harassment: 4:41 p.m., 11700 block of NE 130th Place. A 27-year-old woman was arrested for charging at a 31-year-old woman with a knife. The victim ran into her apartment just before the suspect slashed an “X” into her front door. The two had been involved in several incidents that afternoon.
April 4
Warrant: 10:55 p.m., 11400 block of NE 85th St. A 35-year-old woman was arrested for first-degree criminal trespass. Police contacted her when they saw her walking up the hill with several bags. An officer gave her a ride to the Rose Hill Safeway and then discovered her warrant.
