As the season continues, the Providence Classical Christian boys soccer team faces new challenges every game.

In a Northwest Conference matchup against Grace Academy on Oct. 18, the boys gave up an early goal off of a rare mistake by goalie Jackson Morris. The senior goalkeeper has been stellar all year, only giving up three goals this season.

Providence (10-0) trailed a game for the first time this season; however, they put this mishap behind them right away. Not only did the boys have to come back from a 1-0 deficit, they had to do it in a mud pit. Junior Justin Hatcher came up big with a brilliant shot, hitting off the cross bar and in, tying the game 1-1 in the 30th minute.

Shortly after halftime, Justin Hatcher assisted on a goal by junior Landon Butaud, giving the team a 2-1 lead.

In the second half, the team’s aggression level skyrocketed, and the defense held Grace Academy in check. In particular, freshman Benjamin Brokaw played a key role defensively, helping the team finish the 2-1 victory.

With four games left in the season, Providence hopes to remain undefeated.
