A ribbon-cutting and self-guided tour will mark the grand opening of the renovated Kingsgate Library at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday.
The bond-funded Kingsgate Library renovation transformed the original 1970s-era building into a warm, light-filled 21st century community gathering space that better meets the current needs of the community. The changes include a new entrance, a stronger visual connection to its natural, wooded setting, and brings more natural light into the community room and library.
The building’s technological, energy, HVAC, seismic, and other systems have been updated to meet or exceed today’s codes, ensuring a safe, energy efficient and environmentally friendly footprint.
“KCLS is delighted to re-open the beautiful Kingsgate Library to the community, and thrilled to welcome everyone to come and see the changes.” says KCLS Director Gary Wasdin.
After the ribbon-cutting ceremony, the public is invited to explore the renovated library, and enjoy refreshments generously provided by the Friends of Kingsgate Library. Highlights include a musical extravaganza for kids and families featuring The Marianna Group, and a 9-1-1 Story Time from the King County E-911 Program Office, a fun, educational and FREE program aimed at teaching preschoolers about 9-1-1. Hear Emery the Emergency Penguin’?s story, Emery and the Ice Carnival, learn a 9-1-1 song and receive an Emery coloring book!
