It was all smiles on Tuesday night for the National Night Out celebration as residents at Velocity, an apartment community for residents with low-incomes located at the South Kirkland Park and Ride, participated in the event. This event has been taking place for more than 30 years nationwide as an annual community-building campaign promoting police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie.
This year at Velocity, Imagine Housing staff provided food, games, laughs and friendly interactions with the local police. Both adults and kids came out to talk with Kirkland police officers as well as participating in a cake walk, games, and playing with water balloons. The local Domino’s Pizza, off 100 th Avenue in Kirkland, helped with the celebration by donating pizzas for the event. It was everything you wanted in a night out of your house. The games and food were just a small part of something special.
National Night Out provided families an outlet, a chance for families to grow as a community, and as a way for the community to get to know their local police officers.
Thank you to the police officers that not only keep us safe but also build camaraderie with the community here in Kirkland.
