The Lake Washington High softball team dropped Holy Names Academy 6-1 in the second round of the 3A SeaKing District II tournament on Tuesday at Rainier Beach High School in Seattle.
The win qualified the Kangaroos for the state tournament, guaranteeing Lake Washington one of five seeds from District II.
The Kangaroos (20-4) held a narrow lead coming into the top of the seventh inning, but scored four runs in the frame to solidify their place in the district semifinals.
Lake Washington beat Garfield 18-1 in the first round, while Holy Names Academy (14-10) held a bye as the fourth-place winner in the 3A Metro League tournament.
Lake Washington is scheduled to play the winner between Bainbridge and West Seattle at 6 p.m. on Thursday, May 19 at Southwest Athletic Complex (Chief Seath High School) in Seattle.
