Please put me down in favor of the Seaplane Scenics activity at Carillon Point. We live in a condominium 200 yards South of Carillon Point and have never heard or seen anything a reasonable person could possibly object to. The flights are eye candy to the passers by, a wonderful option for the community and a great service for the Woodmark to offer their guests.

But those objecting are not being reasonable. I wonder who are these people that emerge from the darkness to complain about anything that looks like enjoyment for others.

To call this activity an airport is a perfect example of the technique that “progressives” – better referred to as “obstinate reactionaries” -use to distort language to their own advantage. “Airport” is properly defined as “a complex of buildings for the takeoff and landing and maintenance of civil aircraft with facilities for passengers”. Give me a break. A 15 by 20 foot floating platform with an outboard motor is not an airport.

Seaplane Scenics is an exemplary service operated in a thoughtful, safe and courteous manner.

Let’s stop deferring the city planning hearing. Let’s have a hearing and give Seaplane Scenics a permit going forward. And lets do it right now – while there is still good weather to enjoy these flights.
