Kirkland’s 13th Annual July Fourth parade this year will reflect the theme “Celebrating Our Diversity!”
Members of Eastside congregations of all faiths are cordially invited to participate in an interfaith entry, marching together with friends and neighbors all decked out in their T-shirts with organizational logos and carrying banners and signs to identify their faith group. All are welcomed to just show up!
Carpools will originate at 11 a.m. in the parking lot of Northlake Unitarian Universalist Church (State St. at 4th Ave. South) to drive to the assembly point in the much smaller parking lot of Kirkland Congregational Church (106 5th Ave., near Kirkland City Hall). Choose which parking lot is more convenient for you.
This interfaith activity is sponsored by F.I.R.E. (Fostering Interfaith Relationships on the Eastside), a new organization developed to keep alive the friendly and cooperative spirit that evolved to produce the “9-11” 10th Anniversary Memorial at Kirkland Performance Center last year.
All Eastside faith organizations are welcomed to participate in F.I.R.E., which meets for a brown bag lunch on the first Monday of each month at Holy Spirit Lutheran Church ( NE 124th St. at 100th Ave. NE, Juanita neighborhood.) For more information, email info@fire-wa.org.
