The following is a release from the Washington State Department of Transportation:
State Route 99 will close for four days starting at 10 p.m. tonight, but that shouldn’t worry Seahawks fans. Crews working for the Washington State Department of Transportation will keep the South Royal Brougham Way and Columbia Street on-ramps to SR 99 open until midnight to allow ticketholders to Friday’s preseason game time to exit the stadium area.
Excluding the late-closing ramps, all of SR 99 will be closed from the West Seattle Bridge to Valley Street from 10 p.m. Friday, Aug. 22 to 5 a.m. Monday, Aug. 25. At that time, the highway will reopen from the West Seattle Bridge into downtown, but remain closed in both directions from the Battery Street Tunnel to Valley Street until 5 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 27. The closure will likely cause backups on city streets and I-5.
