The Green Car Company, a Kirkland car dealership specializing in electric and biodiesel cars and other environmentally friendly vehicles, is relocating to Bellevue.

The dealership plans to open its new location at 345 106th Ave. N.E. in Bellevue by the end of the week.

Susan Fahnestock, Green Car founder and co-owner, said the dealership needed to consolidate its show room on 1129 8th Ave. with a repair shop in Totem Lake, but couldn’t find an appropriate place in Kirkland.

“We’re sad to go. We love the city. But we had no choice. We couldn’t find anything in Kirkland that would work for us,” Fahnestock said.

She said the new location will provide the dealership a showroom to display new motor scooter models and allow it to do both sales and repairs in one spot.

“Bellevue’s got the population, the big condos and the parking,” she said. “It’s tough to leave Kirkland because it’s so cute, but it didn’t work.”

The Green Car Company will keep its Totem Lake repair facility as storage until the end of September, Fahnestock said.
