Kirkland’s Bob Hughes reelected to Washington State Board of Education

Superintendent of Public Instruction Randy Dorn has certified that Bob Hughes, of Kirkland, has won the election for a position on the State Board of Education.

Superintendent of Public Instruction Randy Dorn has certified that Bob Hughes, of Kirkland, has won the election for a position on the State Board of Education.

Hughes won the election with 79 percent of the votes cast by Washington State local school board members. His new four-year term will commence January 2013.

A member of the State Board since 2009, Hughes brings extensive experience to this position. He has served 29 years with the Lake Washington School Board, six years on the Governor’s Council on Advanced Technology in Schools, nine years with the Washington Roundtable’s Working Committee on Education Reform, and six years as a member of the Washington State School Directors Association Board of Directors.

The Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction administered the election process, pursuant to RCW 28A.305.021.
