Kirkland traffic alert: 12K’s of Christmas Holiday Run, Dec. 21

Commuters should expect traffic delays due to the 12K’s of Christmas Holiday Run to be held at Heritage Park on Dec. 21.

The following is a release from the city of Kirkland:

Commuters should expect traffic delays due to the 12K’s of Christmas Holiday Run to be held at Heritage Park on Dec. 21. A course map is posted online at www.kirklandwa.gov/specialevents. The following roads will be closed:

8 a.m. to 12 p.m.:

• Waverly Way from Market Street and 2nd Street West

9:30 a.m. to approximately 10 a.m.:

• Waverly Way from 2nd Street West to 4th Street West

• 4th Street West from Waverly Way to 7th Avenue West

• 7th Avenue West 4th Street West to Market Street

• Southbound Market Street from 7th Avenue West to Central Way

• Eastbound Central Way from Market Street to Lake Street

• Lake Street from Central Way to Kirkland Avenue

• Kirkland Avenue from Lake Street to Main Street

• Eastbound Kirkland Avenue from Main Street to Kirkland Way

• Eastbound Kirkland Way from Kirkland Avenue to 6th Street

9:30 a.m. to approximately 11:30 a.m.:

• Lake Street South from Kirkland Avenue to 7th Avenue South

• Kirkland Avenue from Lake Street South to Lakeshore Plaza

Commuters should watch for increased pedestrian traffic along the following roadways from 9:30 a.m. to approximately 12:00 p.m.:

• 6th Street South

• Northeast 68th Street

• Lakeview Drive

• Lake Washington Boulevard Northeast

• Lake Street South

• Lakeshore Plaza

• Market Street

The 12K’s of Christmas hosts 2,500 athletes during the event which includes a Reindeer Run for kids, 5K run/walk and 12K run/walk.
