Matie “Helen” Wilbur
November 5, 1910 – June 23, 2009
Helen, as she was affectionately known to her family and friends, passed away Tuesday evening, after a very rewarding and full life, at the age of 98.She had been living for several years at AEGIS of Kirkland, where they made life simply enjoyable for her. Family was the big word in her life, and whether it was her Rose Hill Church Family, the AEGIS Family, or her own family, we all knew that she enjoyed her life. She was a long time resident of Kirkland, WA.Helen was born in Chicago, Illinois, on Troy Street, where she picked up the name “Helen of Troy”; born to William and Matie Phillips; she graduated from Naperville High School in Illinois. Helen worked for 15 years in stenography for US Steel, and General Motors.She was married for 45 years to Elmer C. Wilbur, who preceded her in death. Helen is survived by three sons, Bill and his wife Kathie Wilbur of Arlington, WA, Jim and his wife Elizabeth Wilbur of Redmond, WA, and Keith R. Wilbur , also of Redmond, WA; three grandsons are: Allen W. Bailey and Chris W. Wilbur of Mount Lake Terrace, and Jeffrey S. Wilbur of Seattle; great grand-daughter is Ashlie N. Bailey of Bonney Lake, WA.Funeral and committal services will be held at 1:30 p.m, on Tuesday, June 30, 2009, at Sunset Hills Funeral Home Chapel and Memorial Park, 1215 145th Place SE, Bellevue, WA 98007, 425.746.1400, with a reception to follow.
