The blotter feature is both a description of a small selection of police incidents and a statistical round-up of all calls to the Kirkland Police Department that are dispatched to on-duty police officers. The Kirkland Reporter police blotter is not intended to be representative of all police calls originating in Kirkland.
Between Jan. 26 – Feb. 1, there were 880 total incidents, including 162 traffic incidents, 20 traffic accidents, one DUI, 26 general traffic incidents, four incidents involving illegal drugs, 41 alarm calls, 14 abandoned vehicles, five burglaries, 10 incidents of fraud, 13 civil incidents, seven cases of harassment, nine thefts, 22 vehicle prowls, five vehicle thefts, 13 warrants served, 10 noise complaints, one animal call, 12 incidents of domestic violence, one fireworks complaint, 15 disturbances, one sex offense, eight hit and runs and 16 incidents involving at least one arrest.
Jan. 26
Warrants: 1:37 a.m., 11300 block of NE 124th St.; A 29-year-old Carnation man was arrested on his $5,000 DUI warrant out of the King County Sheriff’s Office.
Jan. 27
Vehicle theft: 8:12 a.m., 11400 block of NE 92nd St.; A 39-year-old man left his 2001 Ford Ranger running, with the keys in the ignition, in his driveway and went into his house. The vehicle was stolen. Law enforcement spotted the vehicle, but the driver, a 29-year-old Seattle woman, did not stop. The vehicle was found unoccupied a few minutes later, and an officer spotted the same female walking away. The woman admitted to taking the vehicle and throwing the keys over the fence when she saw the officer. The woman and her boyfriend, a 31-year-old Burien man, were arrested. Traces of cocaine, meth and heroin were entered into evidence. Police entered charges for vehicle theft, mail theft, eluding a police vehicle, drug possession, driving with a suspended license, false reporting and possession of stolen property.
Jan. 29
Assault: 3:53 a.m., 13500 block of 129th Place NE; Law enforcement responded to reports of a possible domestic incident between a 46-year-old woman and a 50-year-old man. Upon arrival, the woman was found in the back yard screaming at someone in the residence. The woman stated her boyfriend had accused her of cheating in their relationship and slapped her across the face during their argument, causing pain to her face. The man was arrested for 4th-degree domestic violence assault.
Warrants: 11:24 p.m., 10000 block of NE 137th St.; Law enforcement contacted a 32-year-old Redmond man at the Juanita Safeway. The man had a felony warrant for forgery and ID theft with no bail, and was arrested and transported to King County Jail.
Jan. 30
Domestic: 9:47 a.m., 8700 block of NE 137th St.; A 31-year-old man discovered his 44-year-old roommate had been texting his girlfriend and threw his roommate’s belongings outside. The older man locked the door, but the 31-year-old man broke the door open. The two got into a wrestling match and called the police, but neither claimed any injury or pain, and neither wanted to be a victim. The older man agreed to leave for the day.
Jan. 31
Stolen property: 8:22 p.m., 14300 block of Juanita-Woodinville Way NE; A 26-year-old man was stopped while driving his 1997 Dodge Caravan with what appeared to be a great deal of stolen items inside the van. One item, a moped, was a reported stolen vehicle. The man was arrested for possession of a stolen vehicle and on a misdemeanor warrant.
